the social software client

twhirl is a desktop client for social software such as Twitter, Friendfeed, identi.ca, or seesmic

I suggest you ...

add a manual proxy setting to the network tab

At home, I can send and recieve Twitter messages using Twhirl with no issues. At work, I can only receive Tweets and cannot send. I get this alot on 3rd party apps unless I am able to manually set a proxy in that app or that app will use my Firefox/IE proxy settings. At work, I can currently send and receive Tweets from the web and from TwitterFox on my laptop, and also from Vlingo and Twittelator when using my iPhone.

I agree; using twitter at work with the firefox extension Twitterfox is rather annoying because I have to have a browser window open at all times and there are no notifications.
