the social software client

twhirl is a desktop client for social software such as Twitter, Friendfeed, identi.ca, or seesmic

I suggest you ...

change scrolling so it doesn't snap to one item at a time

When I scroll through tweets/ff items, it does not scoll pixel-wise but item-wise which is a major turnoff for me. scrolling pixel-wise would result in a much smoother user experience.

This is my single biggest complaint with twhirl--scrolling SEEMS to be scrolling entire "pages", that is, the top tweet becomes the bottom with each scroll. Why the hell would you page down for scrolling?

This isn't Vietnam, man. This is application development. There are rules.

One of the main reasons for me to use Twhirl is that I can use the up and down arrows to read one tweet at a time, so if the behavior of using the scroll wheel were to be changed somehow, I'd need for the functionality of the arrow keys to stay the way it is currently. So I suppose mine is a negative vote as well perhaps.

Counterpoint: when I scoll with the mouse wheel it goes one item per wheel click. When I scroll by clicking on the down arrow (keyboard or scrollbar arrow) it moves by one item. That's the way I like it, so count this as a negative vote I guess.

No, it's not even scrolling item-wise, it's taking huge jumps, and as mica and chuck already said: it is quite hard not to lose overview when scrolling down.

Smooth scrolling would be just perfect, and i think not too hard to implement!

The scrolling definitely goes faster than is intuitive-- I tend to lose my place when scrolling, and have heard others express same.
